Super Crunch is a trio of young men, brought together by their friendship and their passion for music. Having jolly and happy-go-lucky members has affected the band’s musicality. Most often, the mood of the music they make is jolly. The rhythm of the band is jolly and funky.
The band’s members are Rollie Mamale, Mel Bernardino, and Renie “E-Boy” del Rosario. Rollie, the lead vocalist and bass guitarist, handles the rhythm and musicality; Mel, the lead guitarist, takes care of the tone or melody; and E-Boy, the drummer, takes care of the beat. The lyrics for Super Crunch’s songs are composed by Mark Anthony “Maky” Calaque, who is a close friend of the band. The band now has a total of eight original compositions. Only a few, after two years, since most of the members are still trying to get their degree.
Being self-taught, the trio strives hard to broaden their knowledge and skills in music through practice and internet research. Buying-and-selling different guitar gadgets have also made a major impact on the melody of the band. Thus, the band’s style has been changing constantly since the summer of 2008, when the band has been formed. But, the band has now settled with Psychedelic Disco Rock as their genre, although they are not following the traditional psychedelic rock. The band aims to create its own style.
The band has been active in the music scene of Davao City; constantly playing in different venues here in the metro, such as, Durian Bar, Taboan at Matina Town Square, Harley-Blvd. Café, and OffRoad.
